Emerald Ironworks was founded 31 years ago by Michael Patrick Pigott.  Mike was born in Youghal, Ireland, a town on the southeast coast of County Cork and at the age of 17 he went to London where he served as a blacksmith's apprentice.  During this time he learned to fabricate metal products the old-fashioned way: with heat and hammer.

After spending several years on the high-seas, Mike found himself in the United States.  Here he returned to the metal working trade including positions at various steel fabricators in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.  In 1981 though, Michael acted on a long-time dream by opening an ornamental fabrication shop of his own.

Emerald Ironworks's had humble beginnings in the garage of Michael's first family home, but in less than 2 years it was occupying its first industrial space.  Today Emerald Ironworks utilizes a 9,000 square foot space in Woodbridge, Virginia, a suburb 20 miles south of Washington, DC.  It is at this Virginia facility that all design and production takes place. 

In 2005 Michael retired, thus allowing his son Justin Pigott, who grew up in the company, to assume day to day sales and operations.  Under Justin, the company has seen steady growth, with particular focus on the grand, automated driveway gate entrances, as well as high-end, and high-security, custom fencing.   You can learn more about us and our company by clicking on any of the following social media links:
